PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Introduction
Cartelma-H tablet contains Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide.
Telmisartan is an anti-hypertensive drug as an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. It produces its action by inhibiting the action of angiotensin II on vascular smooth muscle which in turn causes reduction in arterial blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic which prevents the body to absorb salt which causes fluid retention.
Indication
- High blood pressure
Dosage
Once daily
Mechanism of action
Cartelma-H tablet is a combination of antihypertensive and diuretic.
Telmisartan blocks the actions of angiotensin II by binding it to the receptor which includes vasoconstrictor and aldosteronesecreting effects. It is having greater affinity for AT 2 receptors.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic which produces its action on renal tubular electrolyte reabsorption. It also causes increase in the excretion of sodium and chloride ions. It also causes increase in the secretion of aldosterone secretion, increases in urinary potassium loss, and decreases in serum potassium.
