Cartelma tablet contains Telmisartan . It is a drug mainly used in the management of hypertension by antagonizing the action of angiotensin II receptor.

Mechanism of action
The drug mechanism of action involves blocking the actions of angiotensin II receptor which effects vasoconstriction and aldosterone secreting effects which causes its effects on patient with high blood pressure.
After oral administration the peak concentration achieves within an hour. Presence of food effects the bioavailability of the drug.
About 99.5% of the drug is bond to plasma protein. The volume of distribution of the drug is approximately 500 liters. Increased volume of distribution indicates more tissue binding.
The drug is excreted in unchanged form in urine.
